What is the value of pride? ›

A: Pride brings well-being through an evolution of self-worth. When you begin to see that you have a sense of agency and can make an impact on how you feel, you are often motivated to set goals and to continue to experience a sense of accomplishment.

Unhealthy pride happens when we do or say things for the purpose of people praising our SELF or for making our SELF feel good or putting our SELF ahead of someone else's SELF. Pride wants our SELF to be praised, get glory, be worshiped and be highly talked about, even when we're not in the room.

Money tends to be a short-term motivational device and works best during times of growth, but pride works in bad times as well as good.

As a fundamental human emotion, most people experience some form of pride. It's part of our social fabric, influencing how we interact with others and how we perceive our status and identity.

Three types of pride, dignity, superiority and arrogance, are distinguished, their mental ingredients are singled out, and two experimental studies are presented showing that they are conveyed by different combinations of smile, eyebrow and eyelid positions, and head posture.

(a) thinking that you are the source of your own excellence; (b) thinking that your gifts come from God but are a result of your efforts; (c) presuming a self-importance that is unwarranted; (d) despising other people while at the same time claiming that your gifts belong to you alone.

On the other hand, unhealthy pride is actually low self-worth and is driven by shame. That's when you would be critical or judgemental of others and yourself, but mainly of others to feel proud of yourself. Most of the time, we think of people who are arrogant or haughty when we think of being prideful.

God Hates Pride

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behaviour and perverse speech.” Proverbs 11:2 “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 16:5 “The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.”

If pride is an exalted sense of who we are in relation to God and others, humility is having a realistic sense of who we are before God and others. We must not think too highly (or too lowly) of ourselves. Rather, we must be honest and realistic about who and what we are.

Are prideful people insecure? ›

Insecurity is a habit that often starts with pride which then creates fear. This powerful combination of pride and fear can incapacitate an otherwise gifted and talented individual.

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall," (Proverbs 16:18 New International Version) is one of the 33 sayings in Chapter 16 of Proverbs, many of which remind the reader that wisdom and modesty are to be preferred over pride and wealth.

For many people, the value of love goes far beyond anything that can be bought. After all, people aren't expendable, and they also aren't on this planet forever. At the same time, money is necessary, and it can fulfill some of your desires.

There is no universal answer to whether salary is more important than passion. Your decision should be based on your individual circ*mstances, values, and goals. It's important to strike a balance that aligns with your overall well-being and allows you to lead a fulfilling life.

Time is money means time is priceless and precious. We use it for earning money but what's important to understand is that we cannot use the money to get our lost time back. Thus, it makes time more precious than money or any other thing in the world.

The virtue of pride is a commitment to achieve self-esteem by taking credit and responsibility for acting on one's judgment, in accordance with principles. As a means to self-esteem, pride aims at both forms of positive self-assessment.

That is why Pride is so important. It's a space full of people who have the same kind of life experiences as you, celebrating themselves, loudly and proudly. Pride is a beacon of hope, not just a parade.
