Why do pharmacists not like GoodRx? ›

Participating pharmacies are required to accept GoodRx through contracts with their pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). An exception is for controlled medications. Accepting a GoodRx coupon for a controlled medication is always at the discretion of the pharmacist.

Last spring, Kroger pharmacies stopped accepting GoodRx discounts; neither company elaborated on the points of dispute. The impasse was resolved at some point last summer, but not before the company was forced to reduce its revenue guidance by $30 million for the third quarter.

You cannot use both GoodRx and insurance for a single purchase. However, you can ask your health insurance company to reimburse you or apply the purchase price to your annual deductible if you buy with GoodRx.
